Omi is Sri Lanka's most popular partnership trick-taking card game. 4 players in 2 teams (North–South vs East–West) use a 32-card deck (A K Q J 10 9 8 7) and play 8 tricks per round. The Trump Maker (player to the dealer's right) names the trump suit after seeing their first 4 cards.
Payas Omi is an open-source browser implementation — no server, no install required.
1. Deal (Phase 1) — Each player receives 4 cards. The Trump Maker (player to dealer's right) examines their cards.
2. Choose Trump — The Trump Maker names a trump suit. If that's you, a panel appears to let you pick.
3. Deal (Phase 2) — Each player receives 4 more cards (8 total). The Trump Maker leads the first trick.
4. Play — Follow the led suit if possible. Highest trump wins; otherwise highest card of the led suit wins. Play 8 tricks.
5. Score Tokens — Win 5–7 tricks → 1 token. Win all 8 (Kapothi) → 2 tokens. 4–4 draw → no tokens (next winner gets a bonus token). Ambaya: trump team fails to win 5 tricks.
6. Win — First team to reach the token target wins the game.
